All About Tony

I’m Tony Stephens, and this is my site/play-ground/sandbox.  

I live in Fairfax, VA.  I’ve been working on websites since 1996, and have loved it.  I’ve spent the majority of my career working with various government agencies, though I have spent some time in the commercial world.  

My speciality is in the front-end and usability end of things.  I’m like 3M, I make things better.    I have a BFA in Graphic Design, but have spent a great deal of time working on various back-ends, allowing me to effectively ’straddle’ the gap between designers and developers.  Which is a very useful skill-set to have I’ve found.

HTML, JavaScript, CSS are really my passion.  I’ve spent the past several years taking various UI’s and implementing them into various content management systems (SharePoint, BEA, WordPress, etc).  It’s not always pretty code, but I’ve learnt you have to make compromises when dealing with COTS software.

I’ve always been interested in asking “why”. Which is a BIG part of web design. “Why that way?” “Why is it like that?” etc. I’m all about the “Why”.
